“Is someone chasing you?” Ilya drawls.
He turns, and yeah, this guy doesn’t look like much of a smoker. Ilya’s learned through time and experience that stoners come in all shapes and sizes, but it’s clear that he isn’t one: hair cut neat and short, straight-laced, brows furrowed into a scowl, shoulders all tight—too squared away. He’s probably not much of a drinker, either, if Ilya had to guess.
And he’s wearing a fucking suit, for Christ’s sake.
So boring, Ilya thinks, strangely delighted. He wants to take him by the collar and scruff up his hair, if only to see what he might do in response.

Summary
Rather than give him the joint, Ilya takes it back between his own lips and sucks in a deep breath, the tip glowing as he does so. Then, before Shane can process it, he’s reaching up and sliding one large hand around the back of Shane’s neck, pulling him down so their lips meet.
Shane gasps softly, and Ilya takes the opportunity to blow smoke into his open and waiting mouth.
Oh, God. Are you there? It’s me, Shane Hollander. We’ve had our differences, but I think I’d like to convert for real this time. I’m ready. Open the pearly white gates. I’m coming up.

He knows that as soon as he looks at Zayn everything will become real in a manner he hasn’t allowed himself to acknowledge so naturally, he looks everywhere else but up. Instead he focuses on the stone path his granny had put in last summer and the copious flowers at his surrounding. He finds himself thinking not for the first time how amusing it is that his granny- a very strong willed, no-nonsense woman- finds joy in something as cliché as gardening, funnier even is how it’s taken meeting his fiancé for the first time to truly appreciate it’s beauty. She’d laugh at him.
