Summary
Jos Verstappen and his wife died in a car wreck in Austin when attending to watch Max for the Grand Prix. This is the story of what happens after, Max's journey to keep his little brother and littlest sister safe and happy. Charles and his family just... don't stop being around. Set in 2022, starting in Austin, two weeks after Max was named World Champion for a second time. (Story ended at Chapter 24, but some bonus chapters are posted occasionally.)

He couldn’t tear his eyes from the bullet hole in the man’s head. His ears stopped ringing, and that’s when Lando realized Crimson was in front of him.
Lando couldn’t move. His limbs were locked into place, yet he flinched backwards as Crimson reached his hand out. “Hey—I won’t hurt you.”

Summary
"W-wait..." Charles says, his voice barely above a whisper.
Oscar crouches down next to the tub, his fingers running through his hair. "What is it, baby? What do you need?"
Charles swallows hard, his eyes brimming with tears. "I'm sorry for ruining the night."
"Oh, sweetheart, you didn't ruin anything," Max says, crouching beside Oscar. "You were amazing, and we're all so proud of you."
"But I-"
"Nope, none of that," Lando says, poking his ribs. "Sometimes these things happen,"
"Remember when I had to use my safeword early on in our relationship? I was still new to being a dom and hadn't practiced enough. I was worried you would never want to do this with me again." Max says.
"And remember when I had to use mine?" Oscar adds, reaching out and squeezing his ankle. "I had a panic attack and was so embarrassed I almost broke up with everyone."
"But we worked through it, and now we know better and are more careful and considerate," Lando says, kissing his shoulder. "So, no apologies or worries, okay?"
Charles nods, his lips curving into a small smile.

“Hi, Daniel,” the man at his door says, tentative with a sideways smile. There’s sweat on his hairline and two cage-like boxes in his hands. He hears a meowing come out of them when he shifts to set them down.
“Max,” Daniel breathes out, floored and caught in the way Max rubs at his own arm awkwardly. Max just smiles.
