Summary
Sonic and Tails are more than just best friends. They are brothers, and through every hardship that's been thrown at them, they've gotten through it together. But when Infinite's attack leads to Sonic's imprisonment and Tails believing him dead, holding onto hope becomes impossible. Infinite is planning more than just torture for Sonic. He wants to tear apart his mind until he can't tell illusion from reality, or remember if the young fox is his dearest friend or an enemy trying to kill him.
Tails, meanwhile, refuses to accept that Sonic is dead, and will do anything to get him back. But even if he succeeds, nothing will ever be the same. The war in the outside world continues to destroy everything that the gang holds dear, but when the damage is deep within, how can it ever be rebuilt?

The warmth of the sun was almost enough to lull him to sleep, but the heat of the pavement piercing through his shoes and the sweat pooling underneath his slowly-growing brown hair (he was trying for a mullet) made him too uncomfortable. His day was basically over now. He had homework to hide under last night’s shirt and then he just had to hang around Fredbear’s until Father decided they were allowed to go home so he could finally go to sleep.
As long as he took it easy today and kept away from his father or siblings, Michael's bed awaited him with beckoning arms.
