Olruggio just so happened to wander into the kitchen during the dead of night when he caught a sight most curious.
That of... the room lit only by the full moon's gleam, and a single pyreball lit on the centre of the dining table.
Qifrey was seated with a cup of tea abandoned before him. He had his cheeks held in his hands, his elbows propped upon the table, and his narrowed eye affixed to the spell as though it were whispering to him the very secrets of the stars.
How... bizarre.
Even for him.
"Uhm, Qifrey? Are you with it?"
Qifrey learns to relax by staring at pyreballs. He falls into a trance, which Olruggio aids him through.

Coco doesn't continue her spell practice that first night she discovers the secret of magic—she hides the evidence away to continue later. And so she does not meet Qifrey a second time, and so many things happen differently.
Months later, Agott is dragged along to a trip to an outsider village, because visiting the tailor is apparently a group activity. She meets a curious girl there.

Summary
The Silverwood had proven to be quite difficult to separate himself from, and without it, Qifrey feels incomplete in some ways. With its branches now safely resting outside upon a span of land visible from the atelier’s windows, Qifrey finds that incomplete feeling can be filled with other things: being a dutiful teacher, a helpful witch, and a loving partner.
But it is that last thing that he finds difficult. Not because he does not love Olruggio, no — he loves him far more than words can attest — but rather that the feeling of love and safety he’s given still causes lingering discomfort due to the fear the tree had placed in him. But day by day, he becomes more accustomed to it.
