Summary
⚠️ Massive spoilers for SIREN. This work is designed to help re-readers by providing them with exactly what changed so they don't have to hunt for it and explanations for why those changes were made. It also contains information about writer intentions, which will flatten the experience for a first-time reader. If you haven't read SIREN for the first time yet, please go read it first (link here).
SIREN underwent a significant rewrite after Chapter 6 publication (approximately 25% of the fic was reduxed). The plot didn't change, but the story did. This companion work is where I lay out what changed and which scenes are worth rereading, with the new text reproduced right here so you don't have to go hunting for it. At the bottom of each chapter, there's an expandable box with the why in case you're interested in how the sausage was made.

Summary
"Are we crazy?"
His words reach his tongue before he's even aware they exist. Confident, secure.
"Yeah. For sure. We're pretty nuts."
He looks at her fingers on the console. Slowly—tentatively—pulls his own off the wheel and places them on hers, light.
"But I wouldn't have it any other way."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah. Otherwise—we wouldn't be us."
There's a spark in the dark of her eyes now. Something daring.
"Yeah. You're right," she agrees. "It's good crazy."
Courtney has a nightmare she can't shake—a facility, a loop, a version of her that couldn't tell the dream from him. Robert can't fix it. So he gets her ice cream, puts on Miss Congeniality, and stays.

Summary
Sometimes, Courtney liked to steal just to see how the person reacted. You could learn a lot about someone from the way they behaved when their things went missing. Or, that's what she told herself, when she was rifling through Robert's backpack and desk. Felt more justified, that way.
