Now what was he supposed to say to that. Could he be honest? Or was Neil trying to figure out if Todd was normal or disgusting? But the look on Neil’s face showed genuine curiosity and honesty.
“What, did you ever do that?” Todd blurted out.
“Wanna know a little secret?” Neil’s soft smile turned into a wide grin.
OR
Todd sees Neil again after many years - except he’s married. But there’s something about Neil’s marriage he doesn’t know yet.

He won't look away first if it means expressing a triumphant, unspoken I love you more.“I think you’re the most wonderful, kindest person I have ever met, Todd.”
or, Todd is struck by lightning in the form of restlessness. Neil is there to catch him.
