  Summary

  Left alone, Shoukichi presses a hand against his bleeding nose to stem the flow, and holds up the piece of meat in front of him. Against the backdrop of the flickering light, if Shoukichi weren’t holding it, he could almost pretend it was a still-beating heart. The unbidden thrill that runs along his spine almost fills him with shame, but he shakes it off, gritting his jaw in determination.
