"Hey, V," he started, but then the sound faded from his left ear, too, like someone had unplugged his metaphorical headphones from reality. "V," he said again, a little more panicky. It was disconcerting; even with earplugs in, Eddie was used to being able to hear his own voice somewhat, echoing inside his skull, but there was nothing, just a void of absolute silence, like a big black hole.
You could not even begin to conceive of a black hole—let alone what one sounds like—with your puny human brain, Eddie, Venom said, sounding snobby and entirely unconcerned, which meant without a doubt that Venom had something to do with Eddie’s sudden hearing loss. Actually, you can't hear anything, can you, Eddie?
