Summary
Josh Dun signs up to volunteer at the local animal shelter to fill the quiet parts of his life. He doesn't expect to meet Tyler Joseph, the guarded vet tech with a weird thing about leashes being coiled correctly, who glares at everyone like they owe him money.
Tyler didn't need anyone messing up his routine, especially not someone who names every dog after a snack food and talks to them like they're coworkers. But there Josh was, all soft smiles and chaotic kindness, a new hair color every week. He makes the shelter feel like something other than a place where things come to break.
Tyler keeps pushing him away, but Josh keeps showing up. And against his better judgement, Tyler slowly wishes he'd stay.

Die drei Detektive Justus Jonas, Peter Shaw und Bob Andrews genossen gerade die Zeit die ihnen zwischen Schulabschluss und Abgang zum College bleiben würde, als der Zweite sich plötzlich zu Wort meldete. "Also wenn ihr mich fragt, sollten wir nicht bloß so stumm in der Zentrale vor uns hin sitzen. Ich finde wir sollten uns mal eine Auszeit gönnen. Egal wo. Ohne Schule, ohne Sorge und vor allem...ohne einen neuen Fall." Letzteres betonte er sorgfältig und warf dem Ersten - Justus Jonas - einen eindringenden Blick zu. Dieser verengte sichtbar nachdenkend die Augen und knetete kurzerhand seine Unterlippe. "Ich kann dir nichts versprechen, Peter. Aber ansonsten bin ich natürlich einverstanden.", sagte er dann grinsend. Peter rollte mit den Augen und dem Dritten in der Runde - Bob Andrews - rutschte tatsächlich mal ein kleines Lachen raus. "Dann werde ich mal recherchieren wo's am besten hingeht."
Und ein paar Tage später saßen sie schon im Flieger.

Tyler looks up at him then, it’s cold out here, but their proximity to the fire has sweat dripping down Josh’s face. His beanie is off, and his curls are now so long they’re curling above his eyes. Years ago, if Josh’s hair was this length, Tyler would've done something like brush it out of his face. Even with the mix of emotions he’s feeling right now, he fights the urge.
