‘Hey…’ Tim says, smiling as he opens the door to find another brunette at his doorstep than the one he expected. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out she’s in a state. Her eyes are fiery, and she has this look, like she’s on a mission. ‘Oh, hey…’ he corrects, using his appropriate Angela tone, instead of the Lucy one he wasn’t aware he had, before now. There are many things Angela loves about being married to a trust fund baby. She loves receiving expensive gifts, going out to fancy restaurants, and having a good future secured for their kids. One thing she absolutely does not love, however, are the snobby galas Wesley’s mom seems to throw once every six months like clockwork. And of course, Wesley is expected to attend these galas which means Angela comes along more often than not.
Today, however, the pretty red dress she is wearing is digging into all the wrong places and her heels are aggravating the sharp ache in her feet. Not to mention that tonight is the first night in a while that she and Wesley have managed to secure a babysitter, and to her dismay, it is being wasted on this event. Angela longs for her comfortable bed, takeout for dinner, and some special attention from her husband.

Something huge now stood directly in front of him, blocking any hope of escape.
He cast his gaze up, and up, and up.
Before him was easily the largest spider he had ever seen, each of its eight legs twice the length of his body and just as thick. Its abdomen was swollen and heavy, resting lightly on the cave floor—no doubt filled with eggs, just like the spiders that covered the walls.
And, where the thorax and head of the spider would normally be, was what appeared to be the top half of a human– though there were some features that were– off. Its eyes were closed, giant fangs bulging and visible even through the skin around his mouth. It had a mop of soft-looking blond hair, and the smooth, tanned skin of its bare chest contrasted prettily against the dark blue and gold of the rest of its body.
By all accounts, it was a very handsome-looking spider.
