The first time he’d asked Jim to kill him, they placed their knife against his throat and he closed his eyes, relaxing into the pressure of the sensation of cool metal against tender skin.
“If Olu’s dead,” they’d whispered, “You don’t deserve as clean or quick a death as I could give you.”
The second time he’d asked them, they’d only stared at him and put a hand on his shoulder. He’d flinched at the touch and cursed them, fleeing back to his quarters.
Maybe, just maybe, he now had the leverage he needed.
