Summary
The Lawson he works at is a small one, slotted between an aging herbal pharmacy and a bookstore. It’s located just off the main street, and there’s a much bigger Family Mart two blocks away by the train station. Between the location, the narrow space, and limited stock, there usually isn’t much nighttime foot traffic, making it the perfect choice for a low-key part-time job, just enough extra cash to more comfortably offset the bills his athlete’s stipend mostly covers.
All in all, it’s usually pretty quiet and uneventful, and tonight is too until he hears a terrific crash, the soft plaps of a lot of stuff hitting the floor, and a muffled “Crap!”
Kazuya sighs, and goes to investigate.
Miyuki works part-time at a convenience store. Sawamura doesn't, but it works out anyway.

He was pointedly ignoring Okumura, opting instead to stare resolutely at Kazuya, his eyes just as glittery and steely as earlier during the game. He had to battle down the amused huff that wanted to escape his chest, reminding himself that Sawamura wasn’t mad at him. Maybe. Probably. If he believed Nabe’s earlier words.

Sawamura turns towards him, all smiles and laugh lines creasing the corner of his eyes. “Just enjoy the view and follow me! You're in good hands.”
And in good hands he is, Kazuya realizes as Sawamura guides him through the streets, showing him places from his childhood and waving at most of the people they walk by. Kazuya can't even remember the name of the people across the street from where he grew up. It is pretty here, birds and insects a lot louder than Kazuya’s ever heard them, born and raised in Tokyo like he was, and there's a certain thrill to it, like he's peeling back the curtain and catching a glimpse of something he never knew of.

What stood before Kazuya now was this.
It was top of the third. Seido were leading with two runs to zero, and the current count was two and one. No outs. Kominato was at bat, Kuramochi had just stolen third, and Miyuki Kazuya was in love with Sawamura Eijun.
The consequences all of which he would deal with later.
It’s a summer training away game for Seido. A few months before the third years retire, weeks before the summer tournament, and mere moments before Kazuya finally does something about his feelings for his battery partner. Only, the moments keep getting away from him, and Kazuya isn’t really trying to stop them.
As always, it’s baseball that ends up making the call for him.

And then, Miyuki will be Eijun’s boyfriend and catch for him whenever he asks because that’s what a good boyfriend does!
