They were unmistakable, even without their armor and weapon. Sat with their back to one of the walls surrounding the village, keeping it safe, the hunter looks up from their lap as Y’sai comes closer. He quickly finds the reason why they’re sitting -- a seikret chick is planted firmly in their lap and sound-asleep.
Y’sai fails to hide his smile at the sight. It wasn’t often the hunter came to visit, so seeing them stay put just for the chick is a very welcomed change.

This never should’ve happened. Noelle shouldn’t have been forced to kill an entire city’s worth of Darkners. She shouldn’t have been forced to cast a spell that froze Berdly solid into a thick crystal of ice. Berdly shouldn’t be lying here lifelessly.
They can do something about at least one of these things. They need to get him to the hospital.

In the aftermath of Snowgrave, Kris rips out the SOUL lodged inside them and leaves through the window to try and fix at least some things. This includes shambling across the town to get Berdly, still-unconscious in the computer lab, somewhere safe.
Kris's terrible awful no-good very bad night; set in Chapter 2 but written with the insight obtained in Chapter 4 of Kris being the one to bring Berdly to the hospital.
