Eijirou had always know his heat was different.
He wasn’t very surprised when he presented as an Omega in second year. Some of his classmates were, thinking he would be a big, ‘manly’ alpha. But to Eijirou, it was just as manly to care for his friends, to make them feel good. He liked being the ‘mom’ of their little squad.
The squad had become a pack pretty quick and Eijirou had never been happier, being able to scent, fill his nest with their things…
If only the heats weren’t so lonely.
Of course, Eijirou knew what a normal heat was supposed to look like. They had it in sex-ed, talking about how you would feel high amounts of arousal, how it was normal, how you could use heat-aides to alleviate the symptoms.
So, when his first heat hit, he was surprised when none of that happened. There was no more wish for him to be fucked than there had been before, which was to say, none. But he wanted to see his pack. He needed them, needed to care for them, to make sure they had everything they needed, to keep them happy and safe and fed and…
Eijirou made a lot of sandwiches during his heat. Of course, he never ate them, because he had barely any appetite. Not with the raging chasm of loneliness in his chest.
He cried himself to sleep a lot, wailing for his pack, for Katsuki, for anyone. He didn’t want to be alone. He needed the company.
But the school rules were ironclad, no heat or rut sharing allowed between underaged students. Nothing woke up a teacher in a cold sweat more than the looming dread of teenage matings and/or pregnancies.
Eijirou knew he was different. But he never said anything. He didn’t want to be singled out, to be labeled as weird. He was fine, it was only once every two months for two or three days, he’d be fine.
He made sure to gather extra stuff from his pack before his heats, inhaling their scents, trying to stave off the lonely pain inside him.
But with every cycle that passed, he found it harder to go back to being happy. Harder to smile carefree and embrace the sunshine persona his friends had ascribed to him.
Even right after he finished one, the looming dread of his next heat started to hang over him immediately, knowing he’d be so lonely again, knowing no matter how much he cried, no one would come…
It broke him inside, making it hard to keep his spirits up day to day.
The others noticed, but Eijirou brushed it off. He would be fine in time, he was sure. He just needed to get used to it.
“Annoying little… take this!”
Eijirou hardened, but the projectile the Villain flung from his chest still hit. There was barely any feeling to it, no impact, but Eijirou felt a tingle go down his spine.
The villain laughed.
“Let’s see you handle this, brat. My quirk can induce any alpha and omega into heat or rut, you’ll be howling for cock in a few second-Urgh!”
Eijirou felt hot rage inside him. What a disgusting thing to do, to a teenager no less!
“How could you do that to anyone? That’s just vile! How dare you!” he yelled and the villain looked at him, shocked, as policemen rushed in where he had landed on the floor from Eijirou’s punch, quickly slapping him with quirk-cancelling handcuffs.
“Wh- what’s wrong with you, huh? Are you defective? You should be writhing in agony…!”
The villain kept yelling as the policemen hauled him away, but Eijirou just stayed. He was going to be in agony, in his lonely room, without anyone.
He sighed deeply as he turned around. Better get home then. Get it over with.
He guessed it was lucky that he’d been stationed only two blocks from the school. It was early evening and after shooting a quick message to Fat Gum about what happened and that he was going on heat leave for a few days, he poked his head inside the mostly empty common room. Only Shoji and Ojiro sat at a table, talking quietly, giving him a wave as he came in but not otherwise bothering him.
Eijirou quickly waved back and walked up the stairs – bumping into Katsuki on the second flight.
Oh.
Oh.
He had always secluded himself before his heat really started but he guessed the villain’s quirk must have accelerated things.
Before he could even think about it, he grabbed Katsuki by the arm and dragged him off to his room.
“Oi, what the- Shitty Hair, what the fuck!”
As soon as they were inside, Eijirou felt frantic. What to do first? Food? Blankets?
He looked at Katsuki, standing in the doorway, looking like someone had hit him over the head.
“Seriously, Ei, what the f-”
“Cutlet, right?” Eijirou was already rummaging through his kitchenette, the small fridge holding ingredients for all his packs favorite sandwiches.
“Hah?”
“Your favorite. It’s Cutlet, right? I have some here… it might not be enough for three days though, but I can also make you some with turkey, you like that too…”
“Eijirou, what the hell is going on here!”
Eijirou blinked at Katsuki’s yelling, the fog in his head clearing just slightly, just enough to let him out of his tunnel vision for a moment.
“Oh… I… oh, no… I’m in heat, Kats, I’m sorry… but… I’m not… It’s not… I’m not normal.”
Not normal. He wasn’t, he knew that for a fact. But he kinda wished he had been, then he could have just asked Katsuki to leave and relieve himself with a heat aide.
But now… this was the first time one of his pack was in his room as his heat started and the idea of being alone again, of facing that hollow emptiness suddenly felt like too much, like it would break him.
He turned to Katsuki, the first tears already falling down his face.
“Please don’t go, please… I p-promise I won’t ask you for s-sex, I really, really won’t, I j-just… I don’t want to be alone, please…!”
He was ready to beg, to fall to his knees and prostrate himself, anything so that Katsuki didn’t leave him alone.
Katsuki’s brow furrowed and he sniffed.
“Are you sure?” he asked, looking confused. “You don’t… smell like you’re in heat.”
Eijirou knew Katsuki didn’t know, that it wasn’t his fault, but still stung, deep inside where he knew he was wrong.
“I-I know… my heats are… different. I don’t… I don’t get aroused. I just… don’t want to be alone…” he was barely audible by the time he finished the sentence, because surely Katsuki would leave, or tell him he needed to be fixed.
“Ei… if you really are in heat then I have to leave, I can’t… you won’t be yourself and I can’t be responsible for-”
“No!” The idea of loneliness cut through Eijirou like a knife, his whole body shaking as he fell down, sobbing.
“Please, please, no, don’t leave me alone, don’t leave me alone… I can’t take it Katsuki, I’m always alone and it hurts so much! Please, please, please…”
“Fuck…” Strong arms wrapped around him and Eijirou wailed harder, clinging to his best friend, needing his support, needing his closeness, needing him here.
He didn’t know how long they sat there on the floor, but finally, Eijirou managed to hiccup himself into semi coherency. Katsuki took his face in hands.
“Ei… what you said about not wanting sex… are you sure. You need to be absolutely sure, because I won’t… I won’t take advantage of your state like that, but fuck, I highly doubt I could resist if you asked me, so I need to be sure, okay?”
Eijirou nodded. “Yeah, yeah, I’m sure, I just… I wanna take care of you, Kats, wanna make sure your fine and stuff…” he said, and Katsuki snorted.
“Wait, you were actually gonna make me a fucking sandwich?” he asked and Eijirou blushed.
“Can’t I?” he asked quietly. “I want to… I want to make you food and make sure you got enough blankets and that you’re comfortable…” Katsuki sighed, touching their foreheads together.
“Yeah, shit, you can make me a damn sandwich, Ei. If that’s what you need.”
Eijirou had jumped up before Katsuki even fully finished the sentence, pulling him up and pushing him on the bed, then hurrying into the kitchen, and starting to prep.
There was a happy humming inside him, his omega finally, finally getting to do what it needed, as he made the sandwich and carried it over to Katsuki.
“Eat!” he said with a happy smile, curling up with his head on Katsuki’s lap and watching with anticipation. Katsuki blinked but took a bite.
Eijirou began to purr.
“Shit… this really is what you need, isn’t it.” Katsuki chewed thoughtfully as he watched Eijirou, who was just basking in his presence, happy, so happy he could give his mate food.
“Hey… what do you normally do for your heats? When there is no one to feed, or take care of?”
The happiness inside Eijirou faded a bit as he remembered those nights of lonely tears.
“I… I still make food. But I have to throw most of it away… I make way too much and I can’t eat any of it. I’m not hungry, not when I’m…” he broke off.
“Not when you’re crying your eyes out?” Katsuki said quietly. Eijirou blinked at him, surprised.
“How did you-”
“I heard you. Through the wall. I thought… I thought you were, you know. Like, crying from that. But… you were just laying here? Just fucking bawling your eyes out?” He looked almost sick now.
Eijirou said nothing. What use was lying.
Katsuki shook his head. “You’re not fucking doing that again. I’m gonna talk to Aizawa, it’s not like you feeding me is gonna get anyone pregnant.”
Eijirou looked up at him.
“Are you gonna leave?” he asked, the fear creeping back into his voice. Katsuki shook his head.
“No. I’m gonna text Aizawa that I’m on rut leave for now and then I’m gonna stay with you until your heat is over. How long does it usually last?”
Eijirou’s heart jumped with elation. “Two or three days… if this is a normal heat. I got hit by a quirk that induces it… my normal one shouldn’t be for another two weeks.”
He smiled as Katsuki immediately went of on a very colorful trade about pervert villains who all needed to be castrated immediately and then locked up with a thrown away key.
Katsuki had finished his sandwich and Eijirou started fidgeting. Was it too much if he…?
“Oi. Just do what you wanna do, okay?” Katsuki looked at him with a raised eyebrow and Eijirou quickly jumped up, making another sandwich and also a cocoa with dark chocolate and a bit of Jalapeno pepper powder on top, because that’s how Katsuki liked it. He offered them both and curled back up.
“Just so you know, you’re gonna have to find some stuff like vegetables and fruit soon, I can’t eat sandwiches non-stop, okay?” Katsuki said, chewing slowly and taking a sip from the cocoa. Eijirou nodded eagerly.
“Sure, what do you want? I have carrots, bellpepper, cucumber, strawberries, blueberries, pineapple and persimmon.”
Katsuki laughed. “Let’s start with the Carrots and then go from there.” He grinned.
The next three days were bliss. He was allowed to feed Katsuki bites of fruit and veggies with some sandwiches in between, tuck him into blankets, scent him to his hearts content and make him all kinds of drinks.
Katsuki even allowed him to wash him in the shower, something that made Eijirou’s Omega nearly feral with happiness. He kept his own shirt and boxers on, feeling more comfortable that way, but washing Katsuki’s hair and gently scrubbing him down gave him a feeling of fulfillment he had never known.
At the end of the third day, he felt the urge subside. He didn’t feel like he was going to vomit if Katsuki left, even for a moment, and he wasn’t running to the kitchen every five seconds to get some food or water for him.
He also started to get hungry again. Apparently it hadn’t been the crying, but the heat itself that made him loose his appetite, he barely ate any of the food himself.
Now his body was protesting this treatment, which marked a sure end to his heat. He told Katsuki as much, and his friend leaned over, sniffing him.
“Yeah, I think so too. You smell normal again.” He said. Eijirou started at him.
“I thought you said I didn’t smell like I was in heat.” Now that the foggy happiness began to recede, worry about how Katsuki might react was gnawing at his insides again.
“No, I mean… urgh.” Katsuki was turning a very delicate shade of red.
“You didn’t smell like… you know. Arousal. But your smell was different. Sweeter. Richer, I dunno, something. Now it’s back to normal.” he mumbled. Eijirou felt warm. Knowing that despite everything, Katsuki could still tell the difference… for some reason, that meant something, even if he couldn’t quite say why.
Maybe it made him feel less like he was broken, or lesser or wrong.
“I… I’m really sorry I dragged you into this.” He really should have had better control. Dragging Katsuki into his room like that… But Katsuki shook his head.
“I’m fucking not. Once you got a shower and had something to eat, we’re going to Aizawa.” His stare was hard as he leveled it at Eijirou. “You’re not spending another goddamn heat alone if I can help it.” He growled. Warmth filled Eijirou. He leaned on Katsuki’s shoulder.
“Thanks, Kats.” He said quietly.
“Tch.” The dismissive click was undercut by a gentle hand, carding through Eijirou’s hair. He smiled. Maybe with this, he never had to feel lonely again.
