Work Text:
Katsuki had been woken up groggily by small, quiet knocks at his door. He’s is in his third year at UA and was fast sleep. It took some tossing and turning for hours but he managed it in the end. In the past, he could plonk his head down on the pillow and be out like a light instantly. These days through, after the war, sleep came a little harder.
He shuffled around in his bed a little before sluggishly sitting up and rubbing his eyes. This has been happening for weeks- months- no, just over two years after the war and Katsuki knows exactly who it is.
“Come in, Izuku.” Katsuki called, loud enough for it to be heard past the door.
The door opened slowly and a familiar green haired head popped round the edge, catching Katsuki’s gaze instantly. “I’m sorry to disturb you while your sleeping.” Izuku said nervously, holding onto the edge of the door for dear life.
“S’fine nerd. Get in here.”
Izuku shuffled in, making sure to close the door quietly behind him, his hands clutching the hem of his t-shirt now that the door is no longer occupying them.
“Another nightmare?” Katsuki asked, looking at his friend visibly shaking with teary eyes.
“I’m sorry.” Izuku replied wobbly, his plumb bottom lip trembling as he spoke.
“Nothing to apologise for. S’not like you can help it.” Katsuki yawned. “You coming over here or not?” He asks impatiently, as his friend still standing by the door.
Izuku nodded and slowly made his way to the edge of the bed, keeping his gaze firmly fixed on Katsuki, as if he was sure the moment he looked away, Katsuki would disappear. He stood there awkwardly, pulling and twisting his t-shirt.
“Come on. I ain’t moving so climb over already.” Katsuki instructed. They have done this routine so many times now, that sometimes Katsuki struggles to hide his frustration of having to tell Izuku what to do, but he does understand that his friend needs confirmation when he’s in this panicked headspace, so he tries his best to reign in his tone.
No matter how frustrating it is though, Katsuki always makes sure Izuku is trapped snuggly between himself and the wall. It’s his way of making sure Izuku feels safe. Katsuki’s not all shouting and attitude, he has a good heart as well.
It would make things ten times easier if Izuku was on the outer side of the bed but Katsuki can’t bring himself to change the arrangement. He wants to be at the side that is closest to the door. Maybe it’s his protective side showing, and the fact he doesn’t want Izuku sneaking off without him knowing about it.
Izuku nodded and hesitantly climbed over Katsuki’s legs, being extra carful not to accident lean on him. He shuffled around, making sure to sit close to katsuki, and moved the thin blanket to cover his legs.
Once Izuku had settled down, Katsuki moved his left arm around his friends shaking shoulders and pulled him down with himself to lay down. Izuku wiggled to get comfy and rests his head over Katsuki’s chest, above his heart.
“You hear it?” Katsuki asks softly.
“Mmhm.” Izuku hummed, clutching Katsuki’s t-shirt at his stomach, as he listened to the rhythm of his friends heart.
Katsuki could feel his t-shirt start to dampen with tears but he never says anything. He’s used to it now. The tears always come sooner or later and Katsuki just can’t chastise him about it anymore.
“The same nightmare as usual?”
“Yeah.” Izuku sniffled, closing his eyes and taking a deep shaky breath. His nightmares always start on the battlefield and they are so vivid, it’s like he is back there again. Only this time things are a little different. In reality Izuku saw his friends lifeless body and anger took over him before he regained composure and continued the fight.
In his nightmares however, Izuku walks over to Katsuki’s body, ignoring everything else around him. He kneels down beside his friend and places his shaky hand on Katsuki’s cold, unmoving chest. He stares into dull red eyes for a long time as his panic worsens. He’s unable to speak, unable to move. He can only stare at the blood stained face and feel the ice cold touch of Katsuki’s skin under his palm.
He screams in his head to move, to do something, anything! But in the end, there’s nothing he can do, and the reality of Katsuki death and the fact he will never come back haunts Izuku until he finally wakes up in terror, with a cold sweat and struggling to breathe, wondering if the nightmare was true all along.
“I’m still here.” Katsuki said softly, rubbing Izuku’s back gently in soothing circles.
“Sorry.” Izuku sniffled.
“S’fine. Get some sleep, yeah?”
It didn’t take long for Izuku to stop shaking and fall back asleep in Katsuki’s warm, calming embrace, listening to his beating heart.
Katsuki on the other hand though, can’t seem to sleep just yet. He stared up at the ceiling with worry. They only have a month left before graduation and then he won’t be able to comfort Izuku anymore. It’s easy now because they are in the same living space, but after graduation, they will be living completely separately.
He knows it’s going to hit Izuku hard, not being able to physically make sure he is alive and well. Hell, it’s going to effect him too, with him not being able to sleep properly much anymore, unless the nerd is sleeping with him.
Katsuki remembered the first time Izuku came to him in his room, after the war.
It was after they where discharged from hospital. Being the dynamic duo they where, they both managed to get discharge at the same day. They always seemed to be connected in a way. Neither of them doing something, without the other being present.
The rest of their class had been discharged weeks ago and where volunteered to help clear up the city. Unfortunately Izuku and Katsuki where put on ‘dorm arrest’ until they had rested and recovered enough to resume school. They where both told they could go home to rest, but Izuku argued that it wouldn’t be fair on the rest of the class. He was always thinking of others like that. And katsuki made it very fucking clear he didn’t want to go home to the hag, who would undoubtedly smother him, and when stuck with the alternative of his annoying classmates, the latter seemed a better choice.
Throughout the next few days of their ‘dorm arrest’, Katsuki noticed dark bags under Izuku’s eyes and they where getting darker as time went on. He new Izuku hadn’t said anything to anyone about it. Katsuki had been keeping his ears open (Yes, he knows he’s being nosy) when Izuku talked to half’n’half and pink cheeks, but he just smiled and said “it’s nothing”. Typical Deku.
Katsuki wasn’t sure why- well, it’s obvious Izuku hasn’t been sleeping well at all, but if the idiot isn’t going to say anything, then it can’t be that bad, he thinks. Izuku’s probably just been staying up too late and nerding out over some dumb shit. Katsuki is sure that’s what it is, up until around the two week mark of their ‘dorm arrest’, on a random night.
Katsuki had just managed to fall asleep again, after being woken up from his own nightmare of the war, when something rushed into Katsuki’s room with a loud bang of the door against the wall, as it flung open, making him jump awake startled out of his skin.
“The fuck?” Katsuki shouted into the darkness, shifting his weight quickly to sit up and trying to comprehend what just happened. He blindly fumbled with his nightstand and turned on his lamp to get a better understand of what was happening.
As his eyes adjusted he glanced down at his phone momentarily, noting the time as 3:36am. He looked back towards the door to see the intruder that just burst into his room all of a sudden. Wide green eyes stare back at him.
“Deku? The fuck are you doing?!” Katsuki spat with annoyance at the manner of how he was woken up at this unholy hour.
Katsuki watched as Izuku stayed silent. He’s was just starting but his eyes are wet and his cheeks where too. He’s been crying again. But why? Katsuki continued to watch as Izuku took small steps forward, until he reached the bottom of the bed, not looking away for an instant.
“Oi, stop breathing like that!” Katsuki demanded, if not a little concerned at Izuku’s heavy breathing. He got up out of bed and turned to face Izuku head on. Whatever was happening, Katsuki wanted to be able to move around freely. His brow furrows in confusion as Izuku stalks closer to him, reaching out with a shaky hand.
“Izuku?” Katsuki took a step back to keep his distance. “Talk to me. What the fuck is going on?”
Izuku stepped forward, in response to Katsuki retreat, his hand still reaching out in front of him.
“What are you-“ Katsuki stopped his question when he noticed Izuku’s eyes aren’t looking at his face but rather…his chest. Right where his scar is over his heart. In the time it took Katsuki to notice, Izuku’s shaky fingertips connect with his t-shirt. They press deeper until they touched Katsuki’s chest and slowly, they glided upwards until Izuku’s palm was pressing firmly over his t-shirt.
Katsuki heard Izuku let out a shaky breath of relief and begin to whisper quietly to himself through quickened breaths. “He’s fine, he’s fine, he’s fine, he’s fine…”
Katsuki connected the dots immediately. He’s seen the war footage. He knows how Izuku reacted to seeing his lifeless body. He saw the despair and anger in those green eyes and the tense moments it took for Izuku to regain control of his emotions.
He hadn’t realised how much Izuku had been suffering with the memories from the war. Hell, everyone was but this…this was horrible to watch, let alone Izuku dealing with it alone all this time. Katsuki wasn’t going to let him continue like this. Helping him was the only thing he could think about as Izuku was standing in front of him, feeling his heart to make sure it was still beating. Ego and pride be dammed. He WAS going to help Izuku anyway possible.
“Yeah I’m fine.” Katuski said softly, reaching up to gently hold Izuku’s wrist. “I’m still here.”
Izuku nodded vacantly, not looking away at his own hand on Katsuki’s chest. “Kacchan’s fine, he’s fine, he’s fine, Kacchan’s fine…” He whispers.
Katsuki released his hold on his friends wrist to gently wipe away the tears falling down Izuku’s cheeks with his calloused fingers. If only he had another functioning arm he could use. Oh well, he wasn’t going to give up in it just yet.
“Calm down, Izuku. Everything fine see?” Katsuki said softly, as he dipped his head down trying to get his friends attention who was fixated on his chest, but that wasn’t happening, Izuku was completely focused. So, Katsuki tried to get Izuku’s attention a different way. He hasn’t spoken directly to Katsuki but he had nodded in response so maybe that was the way to go. “Can you feel it?”
Izuku nodded slowly.
Katsuki sighed in relief. Their making progress, Izuku’s not completely unreachable and his breathing is starting to slow down a little. Good.
Katsuki waits for what seems like ages as Izuku slowly calms down more and more. Everything was going well until Izuku seemed to not be able to feel his heartbeat anymore.
“No!” Izuku said loudly, his breathing picking back up again as he forced his palm harder into Katsuki’s chest, attempting to find it. Katsuki stumbled back a little at the abrupt push against him.
“It’s okay.” Katsuki sighed in frustration. They had made so much progress and now they were back to square one. “Fuck!…Here.” He said, guiding Izuku back to the edge of his bed and trying to pry his friends hand away for just a moment.
The loss of connection only makes Izuku cling to him tighter. Specifically his t-shirt and working arm, which wasn’t helping in the slightest. “Just wait a fucking minute.” Katsuki snaps and somehow with only one working arm, he manages to get them both into his bed. “You’re fucking strong, you know that?.” He grumbled.
Izuku started crying again at this point, which made Katsuki feel incredibly guilty. Maybe leaving them standing until Izuku calmed down again was the better option. Oh well, too fucking late for that now.
Katsuki squirmed around under Izuku’s clingy weight and finally managed to relax onto his back. He grabbed the nape of Izuku’s neck firmly and guided his head over his chest. “There, happy now?”
Izuku sniffled and shifted slightly so he could press his ear firmly to Katsuki’s chest more comfortably, using his left hand to tightly grasp his friends t-shirt over his stomach.
Katsuki hovered his free hand in the air, not knowing what to do with it but eventually he resigns to gently petting Izuku on the head. What? His curls are soft alright! He started off at the ceiling and after a short time, he could hear Izuku’s breathing calm down and his crying quietening to small hiccups and sniffles.
Katsuki glanced back to his phone on the nightstand and saw that it’s been just over an hour already. Shit. He’s gonna be tired tomorrow and he hates being tired. That’s why he goes to bed so early. Oh well, what’s done is fucking done, he supposes.
“Izuku? If your done, maybe you can go back to your own damn room?” Katsuki waits patiently for a reply but when he received no response or any movement at all, his hand petting Izuku’s hair goes still. Oh no…
“Izuku?” Katsuki shifted a little but Izuku didn’t budge, only making a small incoherent mumble. “Shit.” Katsuki’s trapped and he didn’t even think to turn his side light out before getting into this annoying ass position. He’s always been a front sleeper after all, so sleeping on his back would be impossible, and with his right arm useless now, and left arm too far away, he has no way of turning the light off.
“Have you seriously fallen asleep on me like this? I swear Izuku, if you have gotten snot on me, I WILL murder your ass.” Katsuki whisper shouts, because a threat is a threat after all, no matter how quiet it is in order to not wake up the person the threat is for. Besides, Izuku was helping him train with his now useless arm, so he couldn’t complain too much. He sighed one last time before relenting to his fate and closing his eyes to try and get some sleep.
In the end it turned out to be the best sleep he’d ever had. He really needed to get himself a weighted blanket after this because who new having a heavy weight pinning you to he bed was that relaxing. Not that he would admit that he only found out because of Izuku. Nope, won’t be admitting to that.
It also turns out that, that night wouldn’t be the last time Izuku came barging in without warning, but as time went on, the barging soon relaxed to small knocks and a less tired Izuku. His bags under his eyes had almost completely vanished. And he was more alert when he came to Katsuki and not the dissociated mess he had been in the beginning.
Katsuki still made it his mission to moan about it all quietly and mostly in his head, but the routine started to stick, and Katsuki soon found himself waiting for Izuku to come to him on the nights where his friend was fine sleeping on his own. Those were the most restless nights sleep Katsuki had. Eventually it started to sink in that maybe he needed the nerd too.
Their classmates noticed the comings and going of Izuku in Katsuki’s room of course. Especially his neighbours who would hear Izuku barging in, in the middle of the night at the beginning before things settled down, but they never said anything. When everyone returned to the dorms after the war, there was an understanding that everyone had changed a little and not entirely for the better.
They where all there for each other of course and they made that very clear with their monthly dorm nights which would involve music, chatting and games. Everyone attended, even Katsuki himself, to everyone’s surprise. Even if it did end up with him shouting and grumbling.
A few people used this time to sound their experiences and worries but for those who didn’t, there was a silent understanding that whenever they did want to, they would have many shoulders to lean on. Even Aizawa made sure to pop his head In and check everyone was okay. He looked like he didn’t want to be there, but he was good at putting his students first.
At the end of the day though, everything was trying to go back to normal. Well, as normal as it could be for children that had to fight in a war. Now, nearly two years on, things had almost recovered. The only constant reminder for the class from that terrible time, was Katsuki’s partially recovered arm and Izuku’s blank stares whenever things went quiet.
Katsuki hated that. Hated to see the joyful smile, slowly fade to nothing in an instant on Izuku’s freckled face. Watching Izuku’s friends notice and look pained before gently nudging him out of his dissociation, and they looked even more pained when Izuku apologised with a forced wide smile, but wouldn’t open up to any of them about his troubles.
Only Katsuki new the extent of it, and if his classmates hadn’t have seen him watching Izuku with a knowing look, then they might have just forced Izuku to talk to them. However, they just supported him in other ways. They made sure he was eating and kept conversations going so he wouldn’t drift away into that blank stare.
Katsuki was thankful to Izuku’s idiot friends, even if he didn’t voice that appreciation. They all stuck by his friend, no matter how many times Izuku diverted away from worried questions and concerned looks. It would have been quite easy for them to keep their distance but their love and care for the green haired boy was unconditional. And in turn, Izuku helped them too.
He was always there to listen to anyone in the class. Katsuki caught Izuku talking to some of his own group of friends too, when they looked a little down. He was always that ray of fucking sunshine that would never disappear for too long for the sake of others. Even without a quirk now, he was still being a hero.
Katsuki saw himself as different in that retrospect. Like Izuku, he never spoke about his problems and kept them close to his chest, for Izuku’s eyes only. That and his therapist of course. But unlike Izuku, Katsuki wasn’t the type to help others with their feelings. Actually, it wasn’t so much that it wasn’t something he wouldn’t do, but more something he didn’t know how to do. His type of comforting someone was in the form of actions. Cooking everyone pancakes for breakfast occasionally or slapping someone on the back, gently but firm, as he walked past.

It was 7pm in the dorms when Katsuki knocked at Izuku’s door and waiting for a response before entering. He stood in the doorway, looking over to his green haired friend sitting as his desk. “Izuku, we need to talk.” He said seriously.
“O-okay.” Izuku replied nervously as he started into deep red eyes.
Katsuki chuckled Izuku’s reaction. “It’s nothing bad nerd, can I come in?”
“Oh, yeah sure!” Izuku face lit up with a warming smile. Katsuki walked in, closing the door behind him and made his way to the edge of Izuku’s bed, sitting down facing his friend.
“Everything okay, Kacchan?”
“Everything’s fine, nerd. I just…I got you something but, I’m not sure how you’re going to react to it.” Katsuki’s brows furrowed with contemplation and he can’t seem to meet his friends gaze.
“You…got me something?” Izuku said confused.
“Yeah, I-“ Katsuki took a deep breath before continuing. “Okay, so, I was thinking the other night when you stopped by. It’s about graduation.”
Izuku looked down to the floor and rubbed his scarred fingers nervously. Katsuki knows Izuku has been avoiding talking about it for a while now, with the knowledge that they won’t be seeing each other as much after.
Katsuki continued, filling the silence. “It’s going to be different and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t worried about how it’s going to affect you and stuff.” Fuck, when the hell did he get good at this talking about his feelings crap. It’s not perfect but he’s definitely improved in the past couple of years.
“Kacchan…” Izuku said hesitantly, looking up to face Katsuki. “You don’t need to worry, I’ll be fine-“
“Izuku” Katsuki interrupts. “You come to my room nearly every night shaking and upset, course I’m gonna be worried.”
“I’m sorry. I’ll deal with it on my from now on.”
Katsuki rolled his eyes. Izukus always thinking the worst. He can’t blame him though, it was probably his fault for making him feel that way for so long. “I didn’t say it was a problem. You know I’ve never told you to leave when you came to me, so you can fucking stop thinking it’s a problem. If I didn’t wanna do it, I wouldn’t. Alright?”
Izuku nodded, taking a deep breath.
“Anyway. I got you this.” Katsuki nervously held out a white plastic box towards Izuku, avoiding eye contact as he tried to keep the facade of indifference.
Izuku took it and looked over the box intently. “Was is it?”
“Open it and find out, dumbass.” Katsuki snapped, his nerves getting the better of him. Izuku opened the box gently and held the dark green iPod in his hands. “I know you don’t have one, so I got you one.”
“Kacchan! Thank you!” Izuku grins with pure happiness. It’s not everyday Katsuki goes out of his way to get anyone a gift. It’s a rarity actually.
Katsuki felt his cheeks heat up as a light pink settles there, at the genuine smile and thankful eyes Izuku is throwing his way. He been trying so hard to keep these feeling away but times like this he can’t help reacting.
Izuku pressed a button and watched as the screen lit up. Confusion etched his face. “Erm…”
“What’s wrong? You don’t like it?” Katsuki stomach dropped instantly.
Izuku shook his head. “How…how do I use it?” Izuku asked, a little embarrassed.
“Oh, right. Come over here.” Katsuki moved over on the bed and patted the spot next to him. Izuku got up quickly and sat close to his friend, their shoulders touching, and handed over the device.
Katsuki began to explain how to use each button, making sure Izuku understood before moving onto the next.
“…and this is where all your music will be. You’ll have to add them yourself, but I can show you that another time.”
“There’s already one on there?”
“Y-yeah. That’s the thing I was talking about.” Katsuki replied even more nervous now. Slowly but surely they have been making their way to the grand reveal and he’s so fucking nervous.
Izuku stared back at him confused.
“Remember when I said I wasn’t sure how you would react?”
“Ohhhh.” Now he remembers. “What song is it?”
“That’s the thing. It’s isn’t a song or anything.” Katsuki paused a moment and sighed. Dammit! this was so much easier in his head when he wasn’t face to face with Izuku. Now he looks confused again. Shit.
“Just listen.” Katsuki said, going completely away from his original plan and now winging it. He picked up both headphones and placed them gently in Izuku’s ears, but he didn’t play the sound just yet. He needs to make sure to deliver this properly, so he doesn’t upset Izuku.
He looked deeply into Izuku’s eyes and firmly spoke. “This is not a replacement! You won’t understand just yet but when I press play, you will. We won’t always be together after graduation and…I dunno, I just thought this would help.” Now he’s the one rambling like an idiot. “Fuck. It’s stupid and if you hate it, it’s fine”.
Izuku started to open his mouth but Katsuki beat him too it. “I won’t repeat myself again, so get this through your thick skull! This is not a replacement! If you need help, you can still come to me.” Okay, that was delivered well…he hoped. Before Katsuki looses his nerve he presses play.
He watched in trepidation as Izuku’s expression turned from confused to shocked as he knows his friend can hear the familiar sound…
Ba-dum…ba-dum…ba-dum…ba-dum…
Izukus eyes welled up with tears and they begin to trickle down his cheeks.
“Shit.” Katsuki said with regret and a hint of anger towards himself. “I new it was stupid. I’m sor-“
Izuku grabbed Katsuki hand that is holding the iPod to stop him from pausing the sound. “This…this is-“
“Yeah, nerd. It’s mine.” Katsuki smiled.
“How? when?-“
“I got a heart monitor fitted for a night to record it. I know it’s not the same as physically listening to my heart, but I was hoping it would help or whatever after graduation.” Katsuki shrugged. “It plays for a solid ten hours, and I didn’t know If it’ll do any good but-“
Izuku let out a sob and lifted his hands to his eyes to cover them. Katsuki doesn’t know what to do. He’s never been good at knowing how to respond when Izuku cries. This was not the reaction he was hoping for at all. He fucked up again.
He hesitated as he watched Izuku break down in front of him. Eventually he held his free hand out carefully towards Izuku’s shoulder. As soon as his fingers connect, Izuku bolted forward and hugged Katsuki, to his surprise. He paused a moment in shock before placing his free hand on Izuku’s back comfortingly.
Eventually Izuku’s sobs slowed down to quiet sniffles but he doesn’t let go, holding Katsuki tight.
“I’m sorry, Izuku.”
Izuku broke contact, wiping away his tears and looking into red eyes. “Thank you, Kacchan! This is the best gift ever!” He says with a warm smile.
“So…you don’t hate it?”
Izuku shook his head. “I love it! Can you turn it up…please.”
Katsuki turned it up a little and a dark blush covered his cheeks as he watched Izuku close his eyes, listening to his heartbeat. His! All while still holding onto his hand with a cute smile. Holy shit, he didn’t think he’d have this reaction either.
Izuku opened his eyes suddenly and Katsuki saw his freckled cheeks glow pink as they stared at each other. Red and green.
Katsuki took the iPod with his other hand to keep the connection. He entwined their fingers and sees Izuku’s blush darken. They don’t look away from each other as hidden feelings arise between them.
They were almost lost in each others gaze but Izuku suddenly breaks the moment with a whisper…”I got you something too.”
“Huh?”
Izuku broke their contact much to Katsuki’s discomfort at the coldness his missing hand brought. He watched as Izuku removed his headphones and placed them gently down on the bed before walking over to his wardrobe and fetched a box, hidden in the bottom.
Izuku turned around and walked back over to Katsuki. “I-I was going t-to give you this after graduation…b-but seeing as you gifted me…I-I think maybe now is a good time.” He said nervously, his hands shaking a little.
Katsuki waisted patiently, looking up at Izuku but when he doesn’t move, Katsuki’s brows furrow with frustration. “Give it here then, dumbass.”
“Oh, right.” Izuku laughed nervously.
Katsuki took the box from his friend. He’s confused and curious. This box was fucking heavy. He’s not been the most patient so not wanting to wait a second, he started to open the lid-
“Wait!” Izuku shouted, moving forward and holding the lid down.
“What now?” Katsuki sighed. All he wants to do it open the fucking thing.
“Erm. Th-this isn’t a r-replacement either.” Izuku said, looking away a moment trying to hide a pink blush settling over his face and failing miserably.
“What the hell are you going on about?” Katsuki swatted Izuku’s hands away and opened the box. “You have got to be fucking kidding me!” He said loudly with a scowl.
“You-you don’t like it?”
Katsuki stood up and removed the black heavy ass weighted blanket with an orange X, from the box, looking over it and taking in the details.
“I-I’m sorry, I’ll take it back-“
“Fucking try to and I’ll blast your dumb face.” Katsuki spat, shaking it slightly. “Why is it so damn heavy?”
“O-oh w-well.” Izuku rubbed his fingers together nervously. “I-I modified it a little so I-it weighs…the same as me.” He said quietly, just above a whisper.
“Haa!?”
Izuku looked away at the disapproving sound. “I’m sorry!”
There was a huge thud as the blanket was dropped into a pile on the floor. Katsuki watched as Izuku looked back with sadness as tears threaten to escape his eyes.
“I-I just thought that you looked like you weren’t sleeping too well when I wasn’t annoying you by sleeping in your room, so I just thought- but I was wrong, I’m sor-“
Katsuki crossed the room so fucking fast before Izuku thought he’d done something wrong and he pressed his lips against plumb red ones. He moved his hands to Izuku’s waist, holding him tenderly. He felt Izuku lean in and reciprocate which filled Katsuki’s heart with happiness, that his feelings where mutual and not one sided.
After a moment Katsuki pulled back and looked into wide green eyes, a very red face and a mouth gaping open. Katsuki laughed at the sight. “You look like your about to pass out, nerd.” He smirked.
“Because you just kissed me, Kacchan!” Izuku said loudly in disbelief. He paused a moment. “Oh shit, I didn’t think this would ever happen.”
“Did you just swear?” Katsuki’s eye brows rose in disbelief.
“No…yes…I don’t know!” And Deku.exe had stopped working.
This reaction…this reaction Katsuki was going to keep in his mind forever. He laughed . “You’re such a loser, but also, good for you!” Katsuki grinned but it soon fell to a serious scowl. “On second thought…don’t make it a habit. Pink cheeks will have my ass if she hears you swear.”
Izuku smiled. “Your scared of Ochako?”
“No! I ain’t fucking scared.” Katsuki spat with a scowl.
“Mmhm” Izuku hummed, disbelieving and raising his eyebrows.
“I’m fucking not!” Katsuki protested. “She’s just very protective of you, that’s all.” He smiled before enveloping Izuku in a hug, breathing in his minty scent from the soap he uses. He’s glad he was thinking with his heart and not his head In that moment, or this might not have ever been possible. For too long he’s been holding himself back from his feelings towards Izuku, and he’s so glad he acted on them tonight.
Before long they were wrapped up in each others arms on the bed. Katsuki sitting back against the headboard, with his arms wrapped around Izuku’s waist, holding him close and Izuku securely nestled between his legs, back against Katsuki chest. Both staring into the open room and feeling the warm of one another with soft smiles on both faces. The years of hidden affection towards each other finally being allowed to run free.
“I’m gonna sleep here tonight.” Katsuki said softly, resting his forehead on Izuku’s shoulder.
Izuku sat up suddenly and turned to face Katsuki. “No-no-no! I want to try out your gift!”
“Haa! You would rather that thing than me!?”
“Yes! I want to try it out, see if it helps! So Kacchan, you gotta go.” Izuku got up from the bed and grabbed Katsuki’s hands and pulled him up. Once Katsuki was standing, Izuku proceeded to push him towards the door.
“Hey! You fucker! Don’t push me!” Katsuki shouted but doesn’t struggle in the slightest as he’s pushed out and the door closed in his face as he turns around.
“The fu-“ Before Katsuki can finish his sentence, the door is opened once again.
“Thanks again, Kacchan.” Izuku said, closing the distance and kissing Katsuki on the lips with a smile.
Katsuki watched Izuku lean into his room before the weighted blanket is hurled onto him effortlessly, making him fall backwards onto the floor under the sudden weight. The door is shut again.
“You bastard.” Katsuki laughs. He can’t help but find Izuku’s actions funny. The nerve. “I’m going to get you back for that, Deku.” Katsuki promises to himself.
Katsuki got up before anyone could see him splayed out on the floor, bundling the blanket as best he could to hold it securely so he can walk to his room. “Fuck this is heavy, how the fuck did he throw it? Nerds still strong as fuck even without a quirk…” Katsuki said to himself before pausing mid-step, his cheeks glowing pink. He shook his head. “Mind out of the gutter, Katsuki.” He muttered to himself, before walking off again. “Right, let’s go try this thing out!”
