Description:

This Saiouma arc is a post-canon exploration of what it looks like when Kokichi Oma is no longer surviving, testing, or performing for safety—but is instead allowed to rest.

Across the arc, Kokichi moves from guarded theatricality to playful domesticity, learning that mistakes, exhaustion, and need will not cost him love. Shuichi Saihara serves as a steady emotional anchor, meeting Kokichi’s chaos with patience, gentle boundaries, and consistent care rather than punishment or fear.

The arc begins with trust surviving rupture, grows through safe role-play and shared routines, and concludes with a public, communal moment where Kokichi is overwhelmed—not by danger, but by scale—and is supported without question. By the final fic, the relationship no longer needs to prove itself. It simply functions.

This is not an arc about fixing Kokichi or softening him out of character. It is about giving him a world where his sharpness, rudeness, humor, vulnerability, and exhaustion can coexist without consequence—and where love is demonstrated through presence, regulation, and rest.

The Thanksgiving fic serves as the finale because nothing is left unresolved. The story ends not with drama, but with safety.

Notes:

This series explores Saiouma through humor, comfort, and character-driven moments rather than canon-level despair. These stories focus on Kokichi’s theatrics, masks, and coping mechanisms—balanced by Shuichi’s patience, boundaries, and quiet emotional steadiness.

While the tone is often comedic and playful, the heart of the series is about rest, safety, and connection, especially in moments where canon never allows those things to happen.

This series begins with a Talentswap AU and expands into slice-of-life, baking, and comfort-focused scenarios. Each fic can be read on its own, but together they form a gentle arc centered on emotional regulation rather than escalation.

A small author note for this series: while writing these Saiouma fics, I gradually realized they carry some of the emotional spirit I love from Beauty and the Beast — not as a retelling, but as a modern comfort-focused interpretation. Themes like performance vs authenticity, learning to trust, being seen safely, and finding belonging naturally shaped this arc.

It wasn’t planned at first — more something my heart gravitated toward while writing. I hope that gentle, cozy fairytale energy comes through while still letting Kokichi and Shuichi stay fully themselves.
