Summary
Katara had been so sure of her plan to liberate the prison rig. How was she to know how efficiently the guards would respond to an uprising? Zuko had been positive that his best course of action was to travel separate from his Uncle. What else was he supposed to do when he came across a person from his past? Sometimes, through all the doubt, two people collide. Eventual Zutara.
This is both a Canon Related and Canon Divergent, reimagined ATLA story. Katara joins Zuko in his journey of self-discovery across the Earth Kingdom as personalities clash and beliefs are questioned. Familiar allies and enemies await them along the way.
Ripple effects of having Katara absent from the majority of 'Book 1: Water,' are seen once Katara and Zuko meet up with the Gaang later on in the story. 'Book 1: Water' occurs mainly in the flashbacks of this story as Chapter 1 picks up close to the start of 'Book 2: Earth.'
The most recent chapters explore the aftermath of the conclusion of the Hundred Year War.

Summary
The Great War has raged for one hundred years. The Southern Water Tribe has long been coerced into a non-aggression treaty with the Fire Nation, which involves sending Water Tribe women to be held in the Imperial Harem of the Fire Nation palace.
When Katara befriends Zuko during the early days of his quest to find the Avatar, she has no way of knowing that their relationship will set off a chain of events that will change the course of the war.
___“Why do they take us?” Katara murmurs, mostly to herself.
“It’s collateral,” Zuko replies in a detached tone, almost like he is reading from a book. “They keep Water Tribe women as hostages, so they don’t have to engage in a land war.”

Post Book 2.
After betraying Katara in the crystal caves of Ba Sing Se, Zuko returns to the Fire Nation to find it full of corruption. He attempts to help his nation by becoming the Blue Spirit once more and going out at night to fight this corruption. One night, he suddenly runs into the Painted Lady, who is also trying to help the Fire Nation. Zuko is shocked when he recognizes her as Katara, but she remains oblivious as to who he really is. Recognizing the usefulness of having a partner, he agrees to team up with her as they continue to fight the Fire Nation's corruption while keeping his identity hidden. But as they spend time together, Katara develops feelings for him as the Blue Spirit and makes a move on him. Zuko attempts to shoot down her feelings out of morality, but after having lost so many people she loved to the war, Katara isn't willing to give up so easily. Just how long can Zuko resist her, especially when he starts to develop feelings of his own for her?

Summary
It was a brilliant plan, all things considered.
On paper and in the eyes of the public, they were a charming if oddly mismatched couple who somehow found love despite their differences. A fairy tale come to life, sighed the more romantic members of Ba Sing Se society.
So it was almost a shame that Katara's courtship with Prince Zuko was ultimately nothing more than an act - otherwise, they might have been a perfect match, if not the perfect partners in crime.
