Summary
The sight of Steve doing mundane, domestic things just did Things to Bucky. For example, today it was Steve in the middle of their bed folding laundry. Just the simple act of sorting which shirts belonged to who, even though they wore each other shirts all the time, and folding them to put them away in the dressers just...well, Bucky gripped the doorway a little tighter before making it over to the bed in one step and latching onto Steve, pushing him back into the pillows.

I remember the parties. Oh, how father loved his lavish parties… On my twelfth birthday, I was permitted to attend my first party. Father would sit atop his throne with a chalice in hand and watch the guests as if they only existed for his entertainment. My human mother sat in the lavish chair to his right, and I sat in the chair to the left. Neither of us could get up without asking for his permission first. He would allow me to move about the room freely, but she was not to leave his side. When he stood up and left the ballroom, she was expected to follow, and the party would be over.
(Astarion's only son reflects on his childhood in attempt to understand the complicated relationship between his parents.)
