These fairy tales told of adventures of mischievous heroes or curious sea creatures who stumbled upon gold or mythical objects. The two young boys, wide eyed and curious by nature, lapped up such tales until they both turned 16 and jumped on a wagon heading to a big port city and never looked back.

the man had small eyes. like a cat. piercing and unflinching. he had a small nose too. in fact a general term that could be used to describe the man was small; not petite, he wasn’t delicate or fragile by any means – he had eyes like daggers that had not left jeongguk’s the entire time – tiny didn’t fit either because he wasn’t sweet or cute, he looked like he had a fair amount of blood on his hands. there was more anguish than pride in how he carried himself, but he remained, as jeongguk saw it, unashamed.
