Neither Kili nor Fili finds it quite so easy to escape the shadow of the past, and all the tea and cake in the world is not enough to mend everything that is broken. Not that that stops Bilbo from offering, of course.

AU of movieverse. It is many years since tragedy struck the line of Durin when the youngest heir was lost to a pack of orcs. Now Bilbo Baggins, having agreed only to stealing treasure from a dragon, finds himself instead tangled up in a web of tragedy and revenge. Perhaps it's foolhardy of him to get involved at all, but really, someone has to try and keep these dwarves out of trouble. As for the rest, well, what is lost does not always stay lost forever.

A Cinderella-esque AU. Bilbo, a lonely hobbit of the Shire in the valley outside Erebor, gets a job as a cook in the dwarf kingdom to pass the time and keep himself occupied after his mother’s death. One day he meets a regal dwarf, who he thinks is a thief and trespasser, and throws an apple at his head, never knowing he’s just assaulted the dwarven Prince. Thus begins the antagonistic and somewhat odd courtship of a hobbit and the next King of Erebor.

One day whilst in the Blue Mountains, years before the retaking of Erebor, Thorin Oakensheild comes across a tiny Hobbit child whose family has been killed. Having no other choice he takes Bilbo and raises him with Fili and Kili as a dwarf and Prince of Durin. Enter Bilbo, the Hobbit raised by Dwarfs.
