He felt tears well in his eyes as he threw his phone face down on the bed, curling his legs up to his chest.
“Fucks sake!” he muttered under his breath, anger catching his tone. His message sounded like he was texting his fucking boss, not his son! What kind of prior commitments mean you can't come to your own son's wedding? Granted, it might not be the one his father had in mind for his son, but that shouldn't matter if you love your child unconditionally. Apparently, his father didn't.

“You’re like a cat you know, you’ll be kneading on that blanket in a second!” They both giggled. Oscar thought it was cute, the way Lando showed his affection mesmerised him every day. He was endearing.
“Hmmm, don’t tempt me. Feels nice.” The older man felt his eyes begin to droop, finally feeling the pent-up anger from the day fizzle out as soon as he’d shared them with Oscar.

“Can’t do what anymore, Jo?” she asked sensitively, calmly walking over to stand next to her chair, gently reaching out to put a hand on the latters arm, a gesture Jo had used on too many occasions. “You can tell me, full confidence of course.” Warm. Safety.
